This patch contains some minor adjustments to enable some underperforming weapons to better execute their gameplan, while also opening more avenues of approach or escape against key attacks on others.
The Cannon Side Light setup location has been slightly lowered to leave the target slightly closer for more reliable follow-up attacks. We have also increased the Force of the Cannon Neutral Air to improve its knockout power, given its pivotal role as both a combo ender and a powerful anti-air. The Hit Window and final threat coverage of the Cannon Recovery has been slightly decreased to open a greater window to evade or contest this attack as the swing finishes.
- Cannon Side Light: Setup location is now slightly lower.
- Cannon Neutral Air: Increased Force from 31 Fixed/51 Variable to 35 Fixed/53 Variable.
- Cannon Recovery: Decreased threat coverage at the end of the Hit Window; Decreased Hit Window from 8 to 7.
We have significantly decreased the damage of Gauntlets Neutral Air, given its role in setting up further attacks. This maintains the technical ceiling of this weapon and its more difficult combos, while bringing the rewards in line with difficult sequences on other weapon kits. We have also reduced the threat coverage at the bottom of Gauntlets Recovery to open more reliable escape options after certain strings, and more reliability in contesting this attack from in front and below the user.
- Gauntlets Neutral Air: Decreased Damage from 12 to 8.
- Gauntlets Recovery: Decreased bottom threat coverage.
The Hammer Side Air has received a reduction in rear threat coverage to enable more reliable aerial approaches when contesting this attack from above the user.
- Hammer Side Air: Decreased rear threat coverage.
The Rocket Lance Neutral Air now allows slightly greater drift and acceleration in exchange for slightly less threat coverage near the end of the attack. The end of the Hit Window no longer strikes opponents that are standing on even ground. The Rocket Lance Down Air now has a significantly shorter Hit Window that travels at a harsher vertical angle and has a slightly more vertical knockback to match. This gives the Down Air a clearer role in comparison to the Side Air by providing a quicker, shorter range attack that can better threaten targets beneath the Rocket Lance user.
- Rocket Lance Neutral Air: Decreased threat coverage at the end of the Hit Window; Slightly increased the allowed momentum and acceleration during this power.
- Rocket Lance Down Air: Decreased Hit Window from 12 to 9; Angle of travel is slightly more vertical; Angle of knockback is slightly more vertical.
We have decreased the vertical threat coverage of the Sword Neutral Light to enhance aerial approaches against this weapon. This also grants early dash-jump approaches a wider margin to clear this attack and respond with one of their own.
- Sword Neutral Light: Decreased vertical threat coverage of the first two swings.
The Greatsword base kit and a number of Signatures for the earliest Legends have received updates to their hurtboxing. Many of these updates fix a large degree of drop cases that can occur when the user is struck during these powers. Several other updates in this list match the hurtboxing closer to the animation, particularly during attacks with significant movement. This is the first wave in a series of updates to hurtboxing and hitboxing for most Legends and weapons. The next waves will go live after the Winter Championship balance lock is lifted.
