“These lands haven’t seen an Imugi ascend in ages. I wonder what they’re all doing.” ~ Farmer Yoon, to his young daughter

Imugi are creatures of the rivers and mountains, and no two are alike. Some enter the world as crustaceans, reptiles, or even slug-like in form. After tumbling from a place above the clouds, Bihui hatched from his egg as a grand turtle. By completing the lifelong quest of returning to his place of origin, he would transcend his birth form and become a dragon. Not all Imugi seek to fulfill this purpose. That slug guy is living his best life. Bihui was aided by many throughout his century-long quest, from a quiet farm girl to the wisest Kirin, and then a legendary mercenary. He discovered a passion for the culinary arts, much to the delight of his companions. He could turn even the most dangerous monsters into a delicious meal. Leviathan ceviche, volcanic brahman bulgogi, and pickled black mountain radish (untrained foragers beware: the radishes always put up a fight). He even cleaved through the Skykissed Peak to acquire the perfect snow for a cherry lime shaved ice.

“Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar. Then add garlic, ginger, and Asian pear, mashed with your giant turtle claws you’ve seasoned for a century. That part’s important.” ~ Imugi’s specialty BBQ marinade from his cookbook, “Flavors of Valhalla”

Rewarded for both his successful transformation and culinary achievements, he was taken to Valhalla. The Valkyrie who brought him was overheard saying, “This is what happens when you go shopping when you’re hungry.” He was delighted to see his closest companion and brother-in-arms, Jaeyun, and prefers to simply go by “Imugi” for old time’s sake. He loves to serve his hungriest pals Xull and Mako, though the annual hot dog eating contest was eventually called a draw after running out of hot dogs, buns, and patience.
